I think it’s more evidence that we live in such a contentious society. Would I knock a bottle full of formula out of a woman’s hand and tell her it’s shameful that she isn’t giving her baby the best food? Of course not. We have to make sure women who choose not to breastfeed don’t feel bad about it, but at the same time women are often villified for breastfeeding when their baby is hungry, no matter when/where that may be. When I am discreet about nursing, it is because I want to be comfortable. If I am comfortable, Jack will be relaxed, too. Discretion can be an act of courtesy, but it’s not necessary.

Oh, will I ever learn not to read the comments?? Ignorance should hurt.

Yeah, I should have put a warning not to read the comments after the article. I can get pretty heated by the same old ignorance regurgitated.

I over heard this said recently at a football game when I was discretly nursing Preston “Surely she is not still nursing that child at that age” and she looked at me in this horrified way. I wanted to tell her that I heard what she was saying and go off on all the positive things I was doing for my child, but I did not want to interupt my childs lunch
People are crazy!!

My sister-in-law is a police officer and she has an awful story of a woman complaining about another lady nursing in public. The complainer kept having to pull up her halter dress to cover her own breasts as she complains of the nursing mom’s “indecent exposure.” Thankfully my sister-in-law is one of the police officers who knows the law protects nursing women. The complainer was outraged that no one would do anything to stop such horror!
